This Privacy Policy explains how The Fancy Gadgeteer (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use https://thefancygadgeteer.co.za (the “Website”), in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

  • Contact form: name, email, company (optional), phone (optional), message, and your consent to processing.
  • Analytics (with consent): usage data via Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics, such as pages visited, device type, and approximate location.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, and cookies necessary to run the site or chosen by you.

Why we collect it

  • To respond to enquiries and route your message to the relevant company in the group.
  • To understand how the Website is used. For visitors in South Africa this analytics processing relies on our legitimate interest under POPIA and is enabled by default; you may object and opt out at any time through the cookie controls. For visitors elsewhere, analytics runs only with your consent.
  • To protect the Website from abuse (e.g. bot protection via Cloudflare Turnstile on the contact form).
  • To communicate via WhatsApp if you initiate contact through that channel.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Third-party processors

We use trusted service providers who may process personal information on our behalf, including:

  • Cloudflare (hosting, security, Turnstile, and transactional email for contact form submissions via Cloudflare Email Sending)
  • Pages CMS (content management via GitHub)
  • Google (analytics and tags via Google Tag Manager, if you consent)
  • Meta / WhatsApp (if you choose to contact us via the WhatsApp link; governed by Meta’s policies)

Some of these providers may process data outside South Africa. We take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

Retention

Enquiry data is retained only as long as needed to respond and manage the business relationship, unless a longer period is required by law. If an enquiry cannot be delivered by email at the time you submit it, it is stored securely for up to 30 days so we can still reach you, after which it is deleted automatically. Analytics data retention follows Google’s configured settings.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and object to certain processing — including the right to object to analytics processing that relies on our legitimate interest. Contact the Information Officer above.
